Thank you everyone who attended our Free Pop-Up Market at Cal Anderson!! Special thanks to @visuallyspeakingseattle for hanging out with us at the park, and to @toollibrary and @the_book_mongers for sharing free items!
Not only were we able to raise $2,885 in mutual aid funds, we distributed tons of essential goods to our neighbors, and reclaimed space for radical connection.
Check out the last slide of this post to see where you can continue donating your things to ensure they stay free!!
We wanted to share some notes on why we organized this event in hopes it will encourage others to take similar action. The people ARE the revolution!!
The land belongs to the people (human and otherwise)! It is our right and obligation to reclaim all space by any means necessary.
The state / the pigs have absolutely no right to dictate the people on land they’re a part of. This is why we refused to get this event permitted or approved (and why you should too).
Money is simultaneously an illusion designed to control us and eliminate our ability to imagine revolutionary futures, AND an absolutely vital resource for survival — this is why we gave everything out for free with no expectation of payment in any form while also collecting money (from those who have more than necessary) for people to survive as they’re held in concentration camps
It was absolutely essential for this to be a collaborative effort because:
the revolution will not be led by any singular organization but by the collective effort of the people,
accessibility can only be achieved through collective effort, and
every space built by revolutionaries — no matter how small — is a space for building community, interconnection, and revolutionary inertia.
With love 💚 ☭ Ⓐ 🔥
